Xbolt vs Ruger
« on: November 10, 2008, 06:27:51 AM »
Hi I need help deciding between Xbolt in 338 or the hawkeye.I really like the feel of the xbolt stock. Does any one have a  x bolt in .338?  I know rugers are very strong and a little cheaper any opinions on these two. Thanks

I have an A-bolt II in 325wsm and have a Ruger MKII in 308 i have held a X- bolt which was very nice . the Ruger although a nice rifle it doesn't compare to Browning it is also much heavier feeling. The actions on the Ruger rifles i have owned are nowhere as smooth as the Browning's also all the Ruger and Browning rifles i have were purchased NIB.

Are you talking blued/wood vs blued/wood or stainless/syn vs stainless/syn?

With the blued models---the price is so close---go with the Browning.

On the stainless models--we're talking a whole nother story.
Around here--a Hawkeye goes for $579--no matter the finish or materials--------a stainless X-bolt is $900---add to that another $100 for decent rings and bases------the Ruger comes with rings-----that $400 difference gets you a Ziess Conquest to go with your Ruger------for the same price as the Browning with just rings.

HUGE DIFFERENCE.
