I know what you mean, was down to 4* F hear today. We have been snowed in for 3 days, except for yesterday afternoon for a few hours after the plow went by. Snowing and blowing all day today, huge drifts to plow when the wind ever deceides to settle down. We might see a plow tomorrow, might. Guess that is the price we pay to live in the boonies. Just checked, the temp has climbed back up to 10* F now. Have the next two weeks off, but didn't plan to spend it being snowed in.

I hope it warms up for you, and me too.

We've got the cold here on the U.P., but you lucky southerners got the snow :D ;D.  In fact, we have less snow on the ground now than we had two weeks ago.  It rained the last two days of ML season and turned everything to a sea of slush and then froze.  It's great for bird and bunny hunting 'cause you can run on top with small snowshoes.

Merry Christmas

Pete

Central Maryland's weather report

It's still muzzleloader season here and I loaded up the truck last night, thinking at the time, "Man, it's kinda cold and the wind is coming up."

This morning, I got out to the State Park, got out of the truck and loaded up - the whole time thinking that it's REALLY cold.  Temperature was 15, but the wind was roaring through at 25-35 mph.   I walked out into the field that I have to cross to get to my spot.   By the time I crossed that field (about 1/4 mile), I was shaking.

I no sooner got to my spot than I turned around.  I couldn't feel my fingers, the wind was cutting through my three layers (silk underwear, heavy shirt, and heavy coat - two pairs of pants) and I knew that I might be in trouble if I stayed.

If I were 25, I might have stayed, but at 65, I have to take better care of myself.

(As I was pulling into my parking spot, I watched a 6-point buck hauling butt across that first field.  He passed  from my right to my left and I bet I watched him running for over 1/2 mile.  Didn't seem to be chasing anything or running from anything - he was running just for the joy of it.)

He was probably headed to Florida where it is warm. ;D

I spent 2-1/2 hours plowing the driveway Saturday and another 2-1/2 hours again today. :'( Man, the snow was hard to push today, some of it was 4 feet deep and packed in from drifting. I have an old IH Farmall Super "C" with a plow on the front. Slow but sure. ;) At least the road plow went by today so we could get out for a while, cabin fever was setting in. Both my kids are home from college and I think they were going a little stir crazy being snowbound.

Burntmuch,

Where are you located? Sounds like you may be from the Northern Lower? I plan on getting out for the late doe season after Christmas too, if I can stand the weather. I used to hunt in -30 F weather in the late bow season when I was stationed in the UP, but that was 25 years ago when I was in my early 20's. No way could I do that today, the old circulation just don't work as good as it used to.

Is your camo laminate forend one from H&R/NEF or from one of the aftermarket stock companies? I could have gotten them from H&R a few years ago, but wanted the cinnimon for my stainless and they never got any in stock.

Im in Montrose. 20 min North of Flint. Im not sure if the forend is factory or not. . It looks nice with the Thumb hole though. Late season bow is tuff for sure. I love it though. Nothing better than being in the woods in the winter. Especially when the deer are yarded up. I can still handle the cold, its getting harder every year though. Just seems like its getting harder & harder to get out there. Ive got a 15mth old boy at home, who likes me being around.
