I enjoy collecting guns, swaping and staying up on all the newest models. I deer, quail, squirrel and rabbit hunt.

I have to agree that deer sighting are down. Alot of it is cause there is a HUGE crop od acrons & deer simply do not have to move. Part of it is cause Unit L is beginning to work  & part of it is that EHD took care of a bunch of them last year. That being said I took 3 does Saturday, 1 Sunday, 2 Monday & 3 Tuesday. My freezer is full or at least will be after I cut up 9 deer. BTW I have alot of kids & they wont go to waste.

I wanna hunt with Ripmyfly!!! Just got back from 4 days hunting in Cheatham WMA. Met many hunters, very few had even seen a single deer. We saw 1 on Friday night but never had a clean shot on it due to all the trees being in the way. I saw quite a few on my property prior to gun season, live outside Murfreesboro. I agree, not as many deer this year as previous years. The end of season harvest figures will show the truth. EHD probably did more damage than previously believed.

Old English sorry to here you had no luck. I want to know what area Ripmyfly is hunting. I have only seen 3 deer in 4 days of hunting on private land. I took a buck and let two does walk. When I go back I will take a doe or two.

I hunted hard most all of last week on private property in Hawkins co. I didn't see the first deer and never even cocked the Encore. Heard a couple right at first light Thursday morning, but they were over the top of the ridge from me. Further down the valley I heard several shots every day. However, the poachers have been working overtime there. We found the remains of a mature doe on our property Friday from a poacher. >:(! My hunting partners dad caught three of them 2 years ago loading a poached 4 point buck into their car and even had pictures of them doing it! Judge didn't even give them a slap on the wrist. $500 fine each and no confiscation of vehicle or guns. Makes me wonder if hunting is even worth it anymore.

Saturday & Sunday was spent on a WMA in Maurey Co. Yanali to be exact. Monday & Tuesday was on my private lease in Franklin Co. We also have a lease in Lincoln Co. I cant take credit for the luck on the WMA my best friend has spent years scouting alot of the WMAs in Tennessee & we dont mind walkin a long way in.... course the dragging sucks. :)

I live in a Unit L county and I can tell ya that around here the does have learned to lay low in the daylight! There are plenty of sigh and all the trail cams show movement around 10pm give or take a few hours. The other thing here is that most of the deer hunters around here are also duck hunters and the deer get very little preasure in the second rifle session. This means that there are many woods lots with bumper crops of acorns, that have no one even going into them at this time. The ones of us who still go out do so for the time to spend with hunting partners, nature, and the chance that you MAY get lucky! We have just trained them to lay low in the daylight hours!

I have to agree, we have trained the deer to lay low during the day. Having said that, I am now seeing a lot more. The second half of gun season is a good time to go, a lot of guys shoot one early on and then hang it up. I have only seen 1 buck in the last 3 weeks, plenty of does around. I just wish I would see more when I have the gun and not the steering wheel in my hand!
