Anybody out there with any experience replacing one of these. The threaded end was broken off and needs to be replaced. Either I replace the tube or weld an end on the broken tube in place? Thanks for the replies...the gunnut69

Don't know what to say....Can you get the broken threaded end out? Can you force something like a bottle cork or lg wooden plug into the broken end to twist it out?

I wouldn't consider welding!! Ye Gods, don't let Bubba at it.

The end that's been broken off was where the cap screwed onto the magazine tube to hold the forearm on. All the parts houses list this as an assembly with the receiver... I was asking if someone new how the magazine tube was fitted into the receiver assembly, threaded, pressed,what?? If worse comes to worse I can mig weld an extension (threaded on a lath for the new forearm cap) onto the end of the magazine tube. Unfortunately 'bubba' has already had it in his hands, he drilled a hole through the mag tube for a peg to hold the magazine spring in place. But thanks for the reply, anyway..

A browning is threaded and screws in,I don't know about the Rem.11-48. Mr.Bill Ritz at Accuracy Gun Shop in Columbus,Ga. will have the part and know how to fix it.I don't know how close you are to him.Hope this helps,I am CAL....

I have a copy of Remingtons' booklet of instructions and parts list. It looks to me as if the magazine on a 11-48 is a press fit. The info you have is correct as it being part of the receiver assembley. The magazine tube on the M-11 however is a separate piece threaded on each end. Don't know if this could be adapted to the 11-48. You might try contacting Remington however you would probably be better off contacting a local gunsmith. I've never had much luck with Remington except visiting them while they are at the Grand, where they have a few gunsmiths in attendance.

Thanks fellows, I have worked a lot of M11's and Browning A5's, even a few 11-48's. Just never had an 11-48 that broke off the end of the mag tube?? I'll make a few calls and try to find a part or at least someone who knows how the mag tube comes out... Thanks guys from the gunnut69
