Picked up the CZ-52!
« on: April 02, 2009, 05:52:17 AM »
Manufactured 1953 (Just like me!   ;) )
Brought it home last night.
Nice bore, all matching numbers on this re-issue.  :)

Heard alot about the fragile firing pins. Guess what?
Here's the one from my gun:
What's wrong with this picture?   :-\

HA-HA!! Guess we know why this gun was traded or sold.
Oh well, I was intending to replace it anyway and the rest of the piece looks good from what I’ve so far inspected… irony or something manifesting itself here.
I need to start with a clear head, sit down with it apart with diagrams, etc. to pore over it undistracted… Last night was definitely not the time for that.

AND obtain & install a new firing pin so I can try it... SHEESH!  ::)

Right off the bat I replaced my firing pin in my CZ 52 with a -2 firing pin setup from
Harrington products. It made a world of difference in lightening the trigger pull and
you will never have to worry about broken firing pins again! ;) Well worth the money!
Lots of good info on their site about the CZ 52!

I've perused Harrington's "competition" stuff, but think I'll go with the OEM profile firing pin in machined steel to maintain the function of the f-pin retractor/lock... for now anyway.

Ordered this one: http://www.gunpartswarehouse.com/cz52.htm

It doesn't come with a f-pin return spring as does Harrington's stock profile pin:
http://www.harringtonproducts.com/firing-pins/

BUT it does cost a good deal less PLUS I ordered extended slide releases from the same vendor AND I'm pretty sure I can fit my own return spring to the pin to assist the r/lock in retracting/retention.

I may try other options, we'll see... Need to actually fire the darned thing first!
