Can the old style load all load 3" shells?  I have no problem crimping by feel just wondering
if I raised the wad holder up if it will cycle at the shot/powder station?

I have the Lee Load All II and the only thing I did to load 3" shells was raise the wad feeder. They already had the hole pre-drilled for the raise.  I don't see why you're older one wouldn't work the same way.  I crushed my first two crimp attempts but since then I've reloaded over 50 3" shells with perfect crimps.
