Well the year has come to an end. This has been one of the most interesting years in my life.
This time last year I made the decision to retire. We returned from South Africa the last of March and I retired the next day.
My first day retired, I took my Granddaughter fishing.
After spending a week with our Son, DinL and Gdaughter, we loaded up our household goods from storage and headed west to Cut Bank.
We spent 5 1/2 month living in a 24 foot travel trailer while looking for a House to buy.
By time we found a place to live that travel trailer felt more like 24 inches.
We didn't spend all our time looking for a house. We enjoyed ourselves gopher hunting.
Gophers weren't the only thing we hunted. We took a couple of badgers.
Got in to a few rock chucks also. One place in an old rubble pile behind a farm out in middle of a planted field we took 21 rock chucks. The farmer was pleased as the chucks were eating his new planting right down to the ground. About 1/2 mile away was another rockpile with a bunch of chucks. That rockpile was in fallow field and we didn't touch. Next years seed.
About the time Gopher Season was over we closed on the house. It was time to move everything in stoarge in Great Falls to the house in Cut Bank.
Getting everything we owned that had filled a 2400 sq ft home into a 1600 sq ft home kept us busy right up to hunting season.
Hunting season was pretty good for me. THe last time I hunted big game in Montana was 2001. It sure is good to be back.
Well that's the summation of my year. A new year starts in a few hours and I am already making plans to hunt a couple of coyotes next week.
