.30-.30 Frame and price??
« on: December 31, 2008, 08:28:51 PM »
I have an opportunity to pick up a .30-.30 NEF locally and was wondering if there is any way to tell if the frame is compatable to other barrels and what calibers??

Also, would $160 be a decent used price if in good condition??

Thank you!

Mark

$160 is a fair price, frame build year info can be found in the FAQs and Help sticky, if it was made before 1987, it's not eligible for an accessory barrel, if made before 1999, it's not eligible for any of the * marked barrels on the accessory barrel list.

Thank you Tim!

Since my post above, I have found out it is an SB2 frame, so looks like it would be wide open to available barrels.

Any experience with turn around time on a new barrel to frame fitting from H&R??

THANK YOU!

Mark, as Tim outlined your frame can be fitted with rifle barrels. The barrels it would be fitted with are determined by the year it was produced. The lower pressure barrels like the 30-30, 45-70, 44mag, 357 and others are a given for all frames made in 1987 or later. However the frames made after a certain date (1999) are eligible for all rifle barrels including the higher pressure rifle barrels like the .308, 30-06 etc. Note and pay attention to those so designated with the *asterisk on the barrel accessory page.

Found out this rifle was manufactured in 2002, so looks like it would be wide open to barrels available.
