SOG customer service??? any input
« on: December 30, 2008, 04:46:23 PM »
I ordered a M44 from SOG on 12-24-08 for $69.  I got an email today saying that there has been a price change and the rifle is now $99.  If I still want it at $99 then I need to reply by 1-5-08 or they will cancel the order.

????

I double checked my confirmation email from the initial order and it shows $69.  I double checked the website and it still shows $69 as of 9:30 tonight.

I replied to today's email and their customer service mailbox is full.

I have never done business with SOG.........I don't have a good feeling about this whole thing now.
I am going to call them tomorrow to discuss it.  Does anyone have a contact name or any input about SOG in general?

I do not have any contact info and have not orderede "direct" from SOG myself.  I was always a touch leery......mainly because of advertising info which was always "slightly off" and I don't appreciate being told the Yugo 54R ammo is NON corrosive.

From memory I believe you will be told that the Website states the prices can change at any time.  An email notification is not binding.  It is a continued computer result.  You may well be dinked if they wish to be "sticky" on the deal.

How is Century, Aim, Centerfire or MGS on pricing?  SOG is no the only fish........I recall one time I was peeking in on AIM and saw Golden Tiger x39 ammo for ..(WAY TOO CHEAP) and ordered 5 cases of it.  I waited by the computer for days hoping and praying I "got one over on them"......they sent me a cancel email.  There were others who complained online ALOT about the error and whined about it.  Truth be told I was trying to steal from AIM....the price was 1/2 of anyone else at the time.  I knew it was an accident.

I didn't ad that as you are trying to get one by on SOG......just that sometimes errors occur.  I'd give them everything you can to uphold good customer service...ask them why  (looking on line...still looking...where are the M-44's??))  OK I can't find another M-44 easily.  Are they all sold out?  Maybe they are $99 as they are hard to get?

No suggestions except that you placed an order and have full expectation to fill it.  :):):)

Of the firearms (4) that I have ordered thru SOG, I've had no problems.  I don't feel that they are the most prompt in replying to e-m's though, usually waited 2 days or more for a reply.

I did find this under terms and conditions.  AVAILABILITY AND PRICING: Availability and pricing of products are subject to change without notice.

Unless you really want that M44, I'd be inclined to tell em to stick it.

"there are a lot of people that have complained"
"a lot of prices in the print ad are wrong"
"a lot of prices on the website are wrong"
"THEY changed the price"

I talked to two people and neither would honor the price of $69.  They have been $69 for months, years in the print ad.

I had never orderd from them before due to the "non-corrosive" listings that they had, same as cbxboy.

I ordered this time because SOG and J&G are the only ones listing Mosins for sale.  J&G is at $99.

Needless to say I will not order from SOG again.

The second lady was surprised that I wanted to cancel the order.
It is only $30......but that is just crummy customer service in my opinion.  Get a modern website.  I don't know about it being illegal, bait and switch.....but how can you do business like that?

Looks like I will save my pennies for something else.

most of the companies like sog and centerfire have a disclaimer that states the price is the one advertised in the current issue of shotgun news. Just a bit sneaky and i just checked sog doesn't have a current ad there. I always order on the phone with them and have had great results ,a guy call one day and told me they had some cz82's with a lot of holster wear for 99 bucks (it was on my porch two days later great gun just not very pretty until i duracoated it.
the nation that forgets it defenders will itself be forgotten

I've run into this lately with Cheaper Than Dirt.  I just quit ordering from them.  The fact is that prices don't change that often that a business can't fix their ads.  It's just dishonest and bad business.  They should honor the prices they have listed or pull the ad.  There are just too many companies to choose from.  Try Classic or Century,  I've had great luck with them.

I think if they stop the import of these fine weapons soon this maybe there last hurrah. Right now with business at an all time high too raising there prices to make some extra $$ is what there doing too.  The future doesn't look good for anyone.

I never had any problems with guns from SOG, Century Arms,  Samco or Allens Armory so far thats all i have dealt with. But i have heard great things about Empire arms too.

Samco doesn't ship ammo for some reason,  I ordered ammo about 6 months ago and haven't got it yet, i never got charged for it either. As far as there guns they have been good too.

the advertized price should hold.go into a stor and they honor the price stated even if its wrong.I could understand if the price just changed but if the price has been there then they should honor it.I bet the ATF would look at it and be unhappy.dealers must be kept honest.
