Looking for an area for your kid's first deer hunt?
« on: February 22, 2004, 08:57:22 AM »
I have a small farm in Kentucky of about 350 acres with a lease on an ajoining 250.  This can be reserved for your week end without problem.  We have a lot of deer and one or two of trophy size.  Two years ago my youngest son got a six point that scored a 145. The year before that my neighbor got an eight point that was even larger, and these two are not the granddad that frequents the place.   He has been seen by many and reported at running about 14 points, I've seen his tracks, and the first time I thought one of my calves had gotten out, they are huge.  There are many deer and a low pressure area, so your chances of getting a deer are pretty good.  If your budget is like mine, and you need a place to stay, your welcome to stay here.
This offer is ONLY for a kid to get to hunt with mom or dad in a low hunting pressure area where there is a good chance of them being sucessful.
The season is in November/December.  I don't know the actual dates yet but will post them when I know them.

ButlerFord45,

I'd like to take you up on your generous offer.  When I get back from the Middle-East in June/July, I'm moving my family from Alaska to Virginia.  I've been "scouting" for a place where my 11-year-old son and/or 14-year-old daughter can have an opportunity to take their first deer.

Take Care,

Matt

:)  Yeah GB, but I don't think either qualify for a first hunt!!
Now you and Faye know the door's always open, the coffee's always made, and the dogs are always tied, pend or supervised and your invatation is open ended.
Thanks for letting us borrow this bit of cyberspace for a while

Ya'll plum welcome Bill. I forgot all about making that comment awhile back and am just now looking back in on this thread. Maybe one of these days we'll be able to drop by and visit with you two. We're kinda taking this year off from spending much money and are trying to get things all squared away so we can bust loose next year.  :-D

Very generous, wish more of you were out there!  A kid's first hunt is an invaluable experience, and one that will be cherished for a lifetime.  Glad you can help fulfill a dream or two.

Great job and offer
We open our farm for the "warriors to woodsmen" program for service men recently returned from war
Many are handicapped physically but not mentally
As a matter of fact, the best shooter has no arms and squeezes a bulb in his teeth to fire his rifle, we need mostly does thinned for crop depredation
Hope you get some takers
