12 ga. huntsman

 I have a 12 gauge huntsman can you use the powder in pellets or the regular black powder and what type of primer? what is the difference between a sidekick and a huntsman?

Sidekick is a muzzleloader only, the only barrel that will fit it is the barrel that comes with it, Huntsman uses an SB1 (or sometimes SB2 rifle frame if it came as a centerfire rifle combo) can be fitted with other barrels.

If you got a 12ga Huntsman it is one of the older model H&R Huntsmans . It should have a nipple for a precussion cap. I would not try and shoot pellets unless you have some that are made for 12ga bore . Your powder should be some what packed so that you have consistant ignition. If you already have the Blackpowder you can use that but if I was to have to buy powder I would use Pyrodex or some other Blackpowder substitute. You can use either a #10 or a #11 cap. DO NOT try and use smokeless powder. If it is a new Huntsman 12ga please show us as they said they never made it to the production floor. There are actually what I consider 3 Muzzleloaders from H&R the older ones .45cal .58cal and the 12ga. The NEF period .50cal and the Sidekick .50cal and hopefully a Remington H&R that is new and improved. Personally I am satisfied with the  5 that I own the only one I don't have is the Sidekick and that is basically a .50 Huntsman that you can not change bbl on but shoots every bit as good as the rest I am told .
