H & R Target Model 38-55

I have one of the early model Target guns. Needless to say I was pulling my hair out with the bullet tumbling. After many experiments,I took some 375 Winchester brass,seated the lead boolit out,making sure the grease grooves were covered,and voila this thing shoots like it should now. If you don't want to neck ream or are getting just plain frustrated, try this easy fix  Mike

OK, I'm frustrated.
I only have .38-55 brass right now. I have loaded the Lyman 330 gr. round nose, and the Lee 250, as cast, and I have not gotten the accuracy I desire. I have minute of moose at 50-75 yards, but lack confidence in the accuracy I'm getting.
What made the difference in using the .375 Win. brass over .38-55 brass? What powder are you using? What bullet lube? I have been using Vitavory 110, or Aliant 2400. my lube is Lyman beeswax and allox.

 375 win brass is shorter so the bullet fits the too tight chamber easier so the bullet is not deformed. Shorten one of your 38-55 cases to 375 length then slowly set your bullet til the action closes. This may or may not cover your grease grooves.which may not be a problem if you can keep your ammo clean. I have had good results with both H-4895 and Accurate 5744. Try and see if it works for you. Thank you Mauser98us. I'll give both of your suggestions a try.
What do you have your 98 Mauser chambered in? I have an FN 98 Mauser, .35 Whelen under construction. It is planned to be a cast bullet gun with a 1-14 twist. A 300 gr. bullet mold is on order.
