I got this 1966 336 sc marllin in 35 remington. It was purchased used and it was wearing a scope and a hammer spur. I removed the scope and took the spur off, the spur was marked JM in upper case letters with a oval circling the letters. Later while cleaning the old gun I notice JM with a ovel around it on stamped on the barrel right hand side up close to the reciever right above the wood. What up with this, the stamp on the barrel was obviously made with a stamp, the hammer spur was not it was made on there in the manufacturing process of the piece. Any idea's as to what this was all about? Thansk for any light shed on the subject. SN
