over powder wads
« on: January 05, 2009, 04:06:17 PM »
I have been away from casting for several years  and am now getting out and firing up old equipment. Many of the loads I used call for over powder dacron wads, 1/4 " thick of about 1/2 grain wt. Do any of you use these and where do you obtain the dacron? In the old days I got it from an upholstery place that used it on the backs of chairs etc in the '70's.

I used to use "poly" filler, got it at wally world, then I switched to poly buffer, sometimes used in shotgun shell reloading, the buffer is a lot easier to use, just fill the case full then seat the bullet. Only draw back is that when fired it smells like burning barbie dolls :o
