I just bought one and I really like it.

I got one for father's day. My son borrowed it and I haven't seen it since.

Walmart has them right now for $129.95.  I wish my software wasn't so outdated.

I have the 255. You can hook it up to the internet and get free updates. I would imagine the 200 would be the same, give it a go Swampy.

Last summer my company bought me a 255 as well. As mentioned the unit can be updated and also can load new versions of the little pointer... right now mine is a snowmobile.
One thing I do like about the 255 is that it not only tells you to turn right but also says the street name which is handy when streets are close together.
I looked at a BEST BUY ad last Sunday and they are selling the 255 for half of what I paid for mine.

I looked at the 200 manual on the Garmin website and it can be updated.

I have to get the $25.00 USB cable.  It didn't come with one. :(

Swampman:
Are you referring to the operating software or the mapping software?

If you have not checked your map version try this route.

If your unit works similar to mine the start-up screen shows a number of options.  Select the Wrench, The next screen gives you approximately six options, select the Map Icon.  At the bottom select the Map Info option.  You should see what version of City Navigator your unit has.

Mine has version 2008 the most current version is 2009.  At this point I do not plan on upgrading mine.  What version does yours show?

In the case of the nuvi 200 I would not worry about a mapping update or a usb cord.  Garmin normally includes one in the gps package.  The fact they did not with the Nuvi 200 is a message in itself.  Not knocking the unit because you will get a lot of good miles out of it.

I recently purchased a Garmin Street Pilot c550 at a low price because it was on the edge of being discontinued.  At one time it was at the top of the line.  The package came with the critical USB to Mini USB cord.  It will be a coin toss in two or three years to upgrade the software or look for a upper end model about ready to be discontinued and offered at a cut rate price

Mine doesn't have a map icon as far as I can tell.

First is a link so other user can see what you are using.

To find out what version of City Navigator you are using try the following.  Clearly I lead you down the wrong path the first time, sorry about that.

Try Touching Tools>settings>Map>Map Info

Check it on pages 23 and 24 off your owner’s manual.  The manual can be found at http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/nuvi200_OwnersManual.pdf
