.22 Mag Sportster
« on: December 14, 2008, 01:50:59 AM »
I finally ordered and received a .22 Mag Sportster. I think I like it already. I tested fired it for function a couple days ago. Worked great. If the wind ever stops blowing around here, I'm anxious to get down to sighting in and checking accuracy. Thanks for all the advice I found on this forum about these rifles.

i think you'll enjoy a .22 mag.

while many feel it's not accurate nor 'powerful' i've found the ones i have to be both accurate and certainly powerful enough to take down up to coyote sized critters.

i have the NEF sportster and a CZ 452. while neither is a "tack driver" both are doggone near to it...

what more can a rifleman ask?

Congratulations on the new gun and I think you will like it as well. My H&R/NEF Sportster in .22 Mag likes Winchester silver box and black box ammo the best followed closely by CCI Maxi Mags. They have all shot 1" or less groups for me when I do my part. About a year or 2 ago I decided upon it's current (and final?) configuration, it is set up with a Survivor stock set and a Millet Red Dot and is my dedicated and favorite northen Maine Coyote gun. Out to 100 yards (and + a bit if needed) it's lights out for coyotes....<><....:)

Good for you montveil!! It looks as if yiou will be set up for most it not all Varmints between the .17 HMR and the .22 Mag, although a .17 Mach 2 shooting 20 grain bullets would really fill that little niche and have all points covered.

Please let us know about that scope and how it works out when you get it. I have a couple of older Simmons scopes and they are great. If that scope lives up to it's advertising, and for that great price, I want to get one as well....<><....:)

I placed an order for my .17 HMR about a week and a half before Christmas. I'm still waiting. They said 4-6 weeks. You guys aren't making the wait any easier.
