I looked at one in sportsmans the other day and they were asking $750 for it, thats in Idaho, if you're curious about how your price compares.  The trigger in the FN produced one is not the same as the original, otherwise they are basically the same.  Is the new trigger better?  I don't think so but I haven't shot one either.

thanks the trigger is one thing I am wondering about. I like the old trigger a lot.

I have just looked at one at Scheels and that store will not let you dry fire any gun but used ones.

The November 2008 issue of Rifle magazine has an article spotlighting the "New Model 70".  They do not mention an accruacy guarantee, and I have not seen or heard this at any of the gun shops I frequent.  I too like the feel of the new Model Featherweight, but I wish they wouldn't have messed with the trigger.  IMO, this was done simply for marketing and to compete with everyone's "new" triggers.

Well i have a new model 70 featherweight in 270 and love it ,very accurate with 130 grain loads.Fit and finish are top grade and trigger is great.I have had older model 70 years ago and like this trigger better. My gun will shoot MOA with no problem, really pleased with it,taken two deer with it this year both one shot kills,80 Yards and 175 yard's.
I enjoy collecting guns, swaping and staying up on all the newest models. I deer, quail, squirrel and rabbit hunt.

I bought my grandson a Model 70 Featherweight .270 from Walmart a few years back. That rifle is very accurate with the 130 grain factory rounds. all under 1 inch consistantly. That is as long as you do not let the barrrel heat up.

The wood on this rifle was stunning, and I do mean stunning. I do not know if I got a very lucky choice or not  but it is just beautiful.

As far as the quality of fit and finnish it was outstanding and my friend who had the pre 64  was even jealous.

I can not see any reason to be concerned.
