Used the search forum and didn't find what I'm looking for. I have an older SB1 frame Ultra Varmint .223 rem. Been having an itch to try a new caliber 6mm-.223. I think I'd like at least a 1:10 twist on the barrel, I have a lot of 55-100 grain 6mm bullets. I don't shoot this rifle much anymore as I have moved on to a bolt action varmint rifle in .223 for most of my prairie dog and coyote hunting.
My .243 Win rifle doesn't seem to like the 55 grain bullets at all and I just usually use 100 grain bullets for pronghorn and deer. While my .223 doesn't ruin pelts, I think this old H&R would make a fur friendly truck gun when I'm out on the ranch checking cattle with dad and a target of opportunity shows up.
I've looked at this caliber in T/C Encore since I have a frame, but they are all pretty much custom shop barrels and I haven't found one used yet. So just wondering how many people out there have re-bored their barrels and who they used. I sent an email to Classic Barrel Works, and waiting for a reply back. It will probably be a price factor that determines if I go re-bore or new T/C barrel.
