Which brl. 22-250 or 25-06
« on: December 26, 2008, 02:43:33 AM »
What's your thought's folks, I can't decide which one to get.
I already have a .308 and I'm wanting something to pop coyotes - whistle pigs and feral cats.
I'm leaning towards the heavy fluted 22-250, but I've always liked the 25-06 as well.
I don't reload as of yet, but I've got access to one if I ever need -- (4 little ones take up a lot of extra time now that they are in school and I wouldn't miss that for anything!)

Granted the .308 does a great job and the marlin .444 is astoundingly accurate that I have, they are just a little much for the boys to try yet and dad wants something new...

Thanks

Steamin

I hope everyone had a safe and merry christmas

I would go with the 22-250.
IF
you did not have a 308 then I would have said the 25/06

Yep, me too - just can't beat the 22-250 for what you want to do over the 25-06 and it is cheaper to shoot and much easier to find ammo for.

Yep .22-250, unles you'll be staying inside of 300 yards then it would be the .223. Much cheaper to shoot.

I can't believe no one has said it yet, Get Both!
If you do go ahead and get both barrel at the same time, it's kinda like getting free shipping on one of them. That's what I kept telling myself when I did it! ;D

GOOD SHOOTING!

Yep .22-250, unless you'll be staying inside of 300 yards then it would be the .223. Much cheaper to shoot.

I agree with Bob. I have had two 22-250's. Although they shot great I never had a shot that couldn't have been made with a 223.

SO, If I was forced to keep to your criteria, I too would recomed the 22-250, but if your open to suggestions, the Ultra varmint in 223 would be an excellent choice.

I've got an UV in .223, it's effective out to 350 yards with the black box Winchester 55 grain ammo.  I skipped the .22-250 and went up to the .25-06 for longer range targets.  We'll find out this spring if that was the right choice...

The .22-250 will be cheaper to shoot than the .25-06 based on ammo prices at my local SW.  The cost of .25-06 was the tipping point for me to start reloading.

If i was gonna use it for yotes only i'd opt for a 204 as u have a 308 which is a very efficient cal.If i wanted to use it for bigger game then i'd say a 25-06 they are very accurate if u tailor a load for it.I have a 22-250 also and it stays in the gun cabinet since i got a 204 no comparison in accuracy and the 204 bucks wind way better.
