I try to give any excuse I can Walt, I wish I could really get the cost down more. Maybe some day when my cost come down if they do, but I won't use "cheaper" materials to get there. They are quite labor intensive, but I also won't sacrifice quality or attentention to detail either.
There is nothing wrong with the use of a sling. They have some possible advantages over a holster, yet holsters can have advantages that slings don't offer as well. It just boils down to needs and personal preference, I just find the holster more beneficial to me, as far as general use goes. That, and they provide much much more protection to a costly piece of equipment
I don't mean to beat my own drum, but if you tried my rig(s), I have no doubt on the outcome of your preference
