URGENT ALERT – YOUR GUN RIGHTS WILL BE UNDER ATTACK ON APRIL 21ST

YOUR ASSISTANCE REQUIRED

The California-based anti-gun group, Legal Community Against Violence, will be holding a gun control forum in Wheaton, IL, on Tuesday, April 21st. The purpose of the forum will be to blame law-abiding gun owners for criminal violence and spread lies about private firearm ownership.

During this forum, the anti-gunners will do the following:

They will blame you, the law-abiding firearm owner, for the Columbine murders!

They will blame you, the law-abiding firearm owner, for the Virginia Tech murders!

They will blame you, the law-abiding firearm owner, for all the kids getting murdered by gang bangers, thugs, perverts, and psychopaths!

They will insist that you, the law-abiding firearm owner, must pay the price for violent crime by giving up your guns and giving up your rights!

HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS!

1. Make your voice heard by attending this antigun forum: WHEN: Tuesday, April 21, 2009. 7:00 PM. WHERE: Wheaton (Illinois) City Hall, Council Chambers, 303 West Wesley Street, Wheaton, IL . If you can, be sure to bring your spouse with you!

2. If you still have your iGOLD t-shirts or hats, wear them. If you have NRA or ISRA hats, wear them. DO NOT bring signs or other items that might get you kicked out before this thing gets under way.

3. The agenda for the forum includes a question and answer session. Be prepared to ask the panel questions regarding why they want to take your guns away. Also, be prepared to ask the panel members what their experience is with guns; whether they ever owned a gun; whether they can tell you what makes an AK-47 or AR-15 so “deadly.” Ask them why they are so better qualified to decide what is best for gun owners than gun owners are.

4. If you see members of the press at the forum, walk over to them and tell them you want to be interviewed. Be prepared to vigorously defend your gun rights.

5. Please pass this alert on to all your gun owning friends and encourage them to attend the anti-gun forum on Tuesday night.

6. Please post this alert to any and all Internet bulletin boards or blogs to which you belong.

REMEMBER – ONLY YOU CAN PROTECT YOUR GUN RIGHTS FROM THE LIES AND DISTORTIONS SPEWED BY THE ANTIGUNNERS!

SEE YOU IN WHEATON ON TUESDAY NIGHT!!

THE ONLY WAY WE ARE EVER GOING TO KEEP OUR RIGHTS IS TO COUNTER THE LIES AND TRY TO NEUTRALIZE THE EVER-CHANGING TRENDS IN PUBLIC OPINION.  THE ANTIS ARE ORGANIZED AND HAVE THE MEDIA IN THEIR POCKETS.  IT'S A TOUGH TIME FOR ME TO GET TO WHEATON, BUT I WILL TRY AND GET THERE.

Well, there really wasn't a chance to be heard..... unless you are for gun control

FROM THE DAILY HERALD

Karl Lykken was simply trying to earn some extra credit for his government class when he attended a Tuesday night forum in Wheaton about gun violence.

What he and some of his Wheaton North High School classmates got was a firsthand view about how passionate people can get over the issue of gun control.

The event, which was sponsored by several League of Women Voters chapters and the Illinois Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, was organized to educate area high school students about "sensible gun laws."

But the crowd of more than 170 people that packed Wheaton city hall was dominated by gun rights advocates who voiced their displeasure over what they called the "one-sided nature" of the event.

"They sprinkle the thing with untruths and innuendo, and we're not too happy about that," said Richard Pearson, executive director of the Illinois State Rifle Association. "We are about trying to set the record straight."

Before the event, forum moderator Michelle Jordan said she was expecting "hecklers of the highest order." She later said the evening proved her right.

Jordan, who is state counsel for the Illinois Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, was repeatedly interrupted by audience members who laughed and stood up to challenge the statistics she was quoting.

Even a Chicago man who survived the Virginia Tech massacre had his presentation disrupted by a heckler while he was recounting the campus shooting spree from two years ago.

Garrett Evans, who has recovered from being shot in the legs, pressed on to tell the crowd that tougher gun laws are needed. "I don't care what we have to do," he said. "But there's more and more people who shouldn't have guns."

Jordan said that's why gun control groups are pushing for state legislation that would require background checks for purchases or transfers of all firearms. She said the proposal would close the "private sale loophole."

But Pearson argues that federal background checks already are required for anyone who wants to get a firearm owner's identification card. The legislation gun control groups support will only make it more difficult for law-abiding citizens to obtain firearms, he added.

"If you look at these incidents that happen, none of them are done by legal gun owners," he said.

No one in the pro-gun crowd was allowed to speak during Tuesday's event. Wheaton resident Dave Liddy said he believes that's why there was so much discord. "To get shot down before it got started," he said, "it's hard to blame some of their responses."

Jordan said organizers were under no obligation to present the other side of the debate. "They can put together their own forum if they want to have their position heard," she said.

Several audience members said that's exactly what they plan to do.

Peace: Some intend to present other side at their own forum

The ISRA report

ISRA ALERT – Wheaton Follow-Up

The ISRA would like to say “thanks” to all the patriotic gun owners who attended the anti-gun “forum” in Wheaton, Illinois Tuesday night.

Unfortunately, the room in which the “forum” was held only has a legal occupancy of 175 persons. Well before the “forum” began, that capacity was exceeded by at least 50 persons. As a result, the fire chief ordered the room closed to new attendees. Unfortunately, that meant that several dozen of you were not allowed in to the hearing room. Nonetheless, the spirit of your support was felt by those who were seated in the room.

For those of you who have been to this sort of event in the past, what you heard from the anti-gunners was the same old song and dance. They claim to support the 2nd Amendment, yet push for the passage of laws that would make exercise of gun rights impractical if not impossible. They claim that they want only to keep guns out of the “...hands of criminals,” yet the legislation they support would register gun owners like sex offenders and ban and confiscate their guns as well. As you heard during the “forum,” the anti-gunners cite suspicious polling numbers to lay claim to widespread support for their gun control program – even among gun owners. If the gun control movement has such wide support, how come their supporters never show up for any events like that held Tuesday night?

For those of you who have never seen the anti-gunners in action before, Tuesday night must have been an eye-opener for you! It should be evident to you by now that the anti-gunners do not care about the facts. They cannot be reasoned with. No amount of “education” is going to change their minds. They are not interested in hearing what you have to say – as evidenced by their behavior Tuesday night. All they want to hear from you is an admission that YOUR guns are responsible for the murders committed in Chicago every weekend. They want to hear you apologize for daring to own a gun. They want to hear you say that you are ready to turn your guns in for destruction. That is what the anti-gunners want to hear from you.

The bottom line is this – members of the gun control movement hate you. They want to neutralize you politically. They will try to stigmatize you socially. They will seek to isolate you culturally. All that simply because you choose to own a gun. If Tuesday night convinced you of anything, it should be that there is no middle ground on this issue. The gun control movement has one objective, and one objective only – the prohibition of private firearm ownership. The only thing that stands in their way is you, the law-abiding firearm owner. Therefore, it is critical that you vigorously and forcefully defend your rights whenever they are attacked as they were Tuesday night.

PLEASE DISTRIBUTE THIS ALERT TO ALL YOUR GUN OWNING FRIENDS AND PLEASE POST TO ANY AND ALL INTERNET BLOGS OR BULLETIN BOARDS TO WHICH YOU BELONG!
