ordered black off from Dixie to get breech plug out of my buddy's Black Diamond,but being the impatient goof that I am went ahead anyhow and tried a little to hard and rounded the breech plug off.Still can get a purchase with the plug wrench,but it wants to slip. Now what?

Worst case scenario is that you will be drilling it out for one of the larger size "easy out" tools. Not great, but not the end of the world.

Craftsman sells an "easyout" type of boxend wrench that grips rounded bolt heads. Might work.

You can use a 6 point socket on the plug, and an extension that is long enough will reach through the rear with the bolt removed. You might want to stand it on end, put some penetrant around it, and place a hair dryer where it can heat it up for quite a while. If the 6 point won't hold on the nut, there are sev. manufacturers who make a spiral socket for stripped bolt heads. Irvin is one.

There's also those sockets (I forget what they're called) with the rods in them. Gatorgrip or something like that. They seem cheesy but they do work on rounded nuts pretty well. You may get the smaller one in there. I don't know how much room you have to work with.

Before trying to take it out again, soak it with PB Blaster. Much beter than WD 40. Seen it do wonders on bolts. Sold at Auto parts stores.

Been using Blaster for 25 years. Love that stuff! Takes rust off, too! Might try tapping on the reciever with a block of wood or something soft if you use it. Spray both ends, tap on it a while and let it soak over night. I feel your pain and wish you the best of luck with this one!
