357 mag. BH

I got a 357 mag. BH with a 6.5" barrel. I reload for it. I'm in the process of finding what will work as far as a real good powder to use. I shooting 158 gr XTPs with 17.5 gr. of Lil Gun. It's producing a lot of velocity but, accuracy is not so hot. I plan on using it for hunting just as my 45 colt BH. Lil Gun works great in my colt, but I think maybe a different powder may prove to be more accurate. I need your imput you Ruger Gurus, PLEASE!

In the .357 Magnum I use mostly H110/W296 and 2400 and especially so with the 158 and heavier bullets. For 125s I have a load using Bullseye that has always been super accurate in my guns. I've tried Lil' Gun and decided it's a good powder for .410 shotshells. I don't use it in handguns anymore.

I try to avoid shotgun type blasts and I usually load them a little lighter and slower for a more accurate shooter, but I load everything for each gun specifically and it takes time to work up loads that work the best overall. if you like the powder stick with it and work your charges up and down a tenth grain at a time til you find the right load, I load 10-12 rounds of each then try out several loads at once.

My 357s shoot 125s and 158s pretty good.  I cannot complain about those loads and accuracy is pretty good.  Jumping up to 180s or 200s and they really start to perform.  You don't have to push them fast to get the accuracy.  Mine usually have two sweet spots.  One about 800 fps and one 1100-1200 with 180s and heavier. 

Try a heavier bullet.  You might like it.
