Rossi isn't going anywhere, at least not that I've heard. That would be a seperate story.
But Rossi will no longer be making the Legacy Sports Puma rifle. Legacy Sports has a new contract with Chiappa Firearms who are building a much nicer model 92 (and priced a little higher but apparently not outragous some other lever clones). My gunsmithing friend says the rifle will is much better in quality and looks as well as no additional safety on it.
So while the Rossi is a good rifle (I totally agree), big box retailers like Bass Pro, Cabelas, etc are probably going to mark them down because they have hundreds in stock. This may not happen for a year, but I think it will happen when they start running low and headquarters says "get rid of them".
While they are $500 now, you might find one for $350-400 sometime this year.
If someone is thinking about getting one (myself included), might be best to wait and see what happens. Youcan always buy one online if the hunch is wrong.
