A request for Mr. Bob Baker
« on: January 22, 2009, 12:23:33 PM »
Bob,

I am a true fan of your fiber optic front sight blades and have a request that would make them even better.  I would like to have them in green fiber with a tritium lamp insert under the fiber like the ones being made by Tru-Glo.  That way you have the bright fiber for daylight and you have the tritium to light the fiber in low light conditions.  Is there any possibility we could see something like this in the future?  Thanks for your time and consideration.

My understanding is to do the tritium inserts requires authorization from the Feds so I doubt we would make it as we don't have to volume to justify the cost of going through the registration process, let alone making the sights.

Probably the best way to get one of those is to encourage one of the companies in that business to make it.  I have heard that some of the companies that offer those sights will even take our sights and modify them to include the tritium insert.

A few years ago I checked into having one of the companies add the inserts into our sights.  I found it would cost us about the same price as a consumer would pay therefore making it cost prohibitive for us to handle it.

Sorry about the slow response, I just returned from 2 weeks of Shot Show and SCI.

Bob,

Thank you for your response.  I will try to contact a couple of the manufacturers.  I will also be calling F A's today to order a couple of green fiber sights in case someone will modify them for me.  I think a green fiber sight with tritium for dusk shots would make a great option for my 97 in 45 colt for shooting hogs and one for my 83 in 475.  I have a black bear handgun hunt planned for that one.

SJPrice,

I too would be interested.  If you locate a source, would you post it here?

Thanks,

Paul
