marlin model 60
« on: January 26, 2009, 12:57:38 AM »
hi all!  i have a model 60 i love to shoot, but the firng pin broke.  i know this is a cheap, common rifle, but i have taken great care of mine and would like to keep the original, instead of replacing it. i got a new pin out of numrich.  when i attempt to remove the firing pin retaining pin from the bolt, the pin only comes out part way.  do not want to force it for fear of it breaking. is there a trick to removing the retaining pin, or should i just not worry and force it out?  thanks for any help.

I haven't had one of these apart in years. I would try driving it out very carefully from both ways. I don't beleive that this is a tappered pin. Put on a bit of penatrating oil and tap it gently with the right sized drift pin and a plastic mallet.
GOOD LUCK
