Bush Double Dealings on Gitmo
« on: January 24, 2009, 02:48:43 AM »
Hey, folks, I do not like Obama or what he stands for.   Do not like the idea of turning terrorists loose to prey on US troops and US civilians.  For years the Bush bunch played on our fears of terrorists.  He defended his "detainee" policy publically while releasing hundreds of Gitmo "detainees" out the back door at the request of their home countries.  This double dealing constitutes hypocrisy and smacks of treason.

Bush turned loose over five hundred Gitmo detainees.  Despite the fact that at least 15 of the 911 terrorists were Saudi; Bush released dozens of Saudis from Gitmo at the request of the Saudi king.  Rush and Hannity forgot to tell us about this one.

The Saudis send the former US "detainees" to a religious re-indoctrination session and then turn them loose.  Yep, the same folks who trained and brainwashed those Saudi former "detainees" get another crack at them.

Since 2002, the Pentagon has released about 520 detainees to their home countries or countries that agreed to take them. Some have been released in full by those countries while others are still being held.

"There, clearly, are people who are being held at Guantanamo who are still bent on doing harm to America, Americans and our allies, so there will have to be some solution for the likes of them," Morrell said.

About 250 detainees remain held at Guantanamo and about 60 of those detainees have been cleared for release by the Pentagon, but their home countries will not take them or the U.S. believes they could be harmed by their governments if returned.

Hmmm. Am I the only one who has a bad feeling about this:

Quote
Sixteen Saudis have been transferred from the US prison in Guantanamo Bay to Riyadh, and immediately detained by authorities, US and Saudi officials said.

At least 53 Saudi nationals remain incarcerated at the US military facility in Cuba, Major-General Mansour al-Turki told the official Saudi Press Agency.

He said a total of 77 Saudis have now been returned from Guantanamo.

A Pentagon statement said: “These detainees were determined to be eligible for transfer following a comprehensive series of review processes conducted at Guantanamo Bay.”

Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz, the Saudi interior minister, on Monday expressed his satisfaction with the level of co-operation between his country and Washington.

SPA quoted him as saying King Abdullah, the Saudi ruler, is keen to free all detainees held at the controversial detention camp.

"Bush played on our fears about terrorists."  Who are you anyway--Algore?

Whatever else President Bush did, he kept this country safe from further terrorist attacks.  At least he kept Gitmo going, in spite of extreme opposition from the Dumbycrats and the media and all the rest of the limp wristed U.N. wussies around the world.

If you're upset at Bush for his handling of terrorists, you should have a real nice warm feeling running down your leg about this Obamanation that is in charge now.

I have very mixed feelings about this subject, not having been a supporter of Bush's attempts to use WMD's as a cover for invasion.
I think we missed on this one.
Nothing has come forward too show me that these prisons were necessary and, in fact, outlived their use.
That is IMO.
Blessings

So keeping Gitmo going is more important to you than the fact that Bush turned hundreds of terrorists loose.  Very strange reasoning that is peculiar to those who get all their news from Hannity and Limbaugh.

Many of these released terrorists were later killed or captured while fighting US troops.  BTW:  911 happened oin the watch of Wya Bush.

Well here is the way I look at it...and I'm not a real big Bush fan either.

There will be another Gitmo to house the people there...it was not thought through very well to close it with no plans on what to do with the dangerous people there.  (Obama has stated there are very dangerous people there now, so he does know this)

As far as 1911 happening while Bush was president...that's kind of a loaded thing to say since the trade center had been attacked before...and they were already in our country training for this under another president....so therefore I'd logically have to say being attacked has nothing do with with any president or person,  I'd have to say being attacked like that would be the fault of the attackers?  Or do we blame Pear Harbor on the sitting president at that time as well?  Kind of weird blaming any attack on us or any president.  You could reasonably say our intelligence suffered well before Bush was in office.

Regardless if we agree with Gitmo or not....there will be another one after this one shuts down anyways.  The thing that bothers me most now is if we were to catch another terrorist right now...we'd have to give him a smoke and let him go, cause there is no way to deal with them until something else is written I guess.  Making quick decisions without thinking them through is the sign of a young pup...regardless of what happened or what we think of what is in place or right or wrong.  Hope he starts thinking more...but I just read the paper this morning and it seems he decided to send our tax dollars across the ocean to help other countries have abortions now too...signed into law.   Thought we were broke...LOL!   Well...get used to a lot of things happening with no thought behind them....it's going to be rough for a while now.  Hey, maybe we can print and borrow more money for international abortions....ya, that will work!  We can call it international abortion bail out plan!

Actually most of the terrorist suspects that were returned to Saudi were tortured and executed. It was handled better and completely there.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

I wish we could return all of them there then. Even if that is not where they come from. ;D Dale

Not so.  They went went to Islamic re-indoctrination and were turned loose.  Saudi Interior Ministry troops killed a lot of them fighting for al Queda in Saudi Arabia.  Got a Saudi friend who is a colonel in counter-terrorism.

Didn't know the Saudis were actively fighting these scum. As long as they are dead it doesn't matter who killed them. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Is so. Your Saudi "friend" is a liar, they have tortured and executed pretty much every one, now I'm sure your Saudi "friend" is telling you the official story but the truth is alot closer to what I have said verses what he says. Oh and BTW it is not forbidden for a muslim to lie to an infidel.

try to book a flight and get a visa to saudi arabia AINT GONNA HAPPEN.-that said- Every last one of the detainees are our enemy if they were'nt when they were picked up they sure are now. Put yourself i their sandals snatched up off the street and locked up (detained) for 4-5yrs, just how friendly would you feel toward the folks that did that to you. If it was me i know i'd join any outfit that was fighting who ever did it and i think most of you would do the same.
the nation that forgets it defenders will itself be forgotten

They were hardly just picked up off the streets. Most were captured in battle. They supported a murderous regime and deserved to die, but they didn't. Most were so ignorant they didn't even know what toilet paper was for. They were given special food to give them strength, because most were malnourished. They ate better than our soldiers. We made the mistake of providing korans, we shouldn't have done that, their heads are screwed up enough without having satans handbook made available to them. Our biggest mistake was taking them alive. I feel no pity for them. If they are going free, turn em loose right there in cuba, see how understanding the cubans are. Dang PM turning thelose right there in Cuba is a great idea, as long as we sink any boat that leaves Cuba and heads our way. Keeping them alive this long was a mistake, after the Nov. election they should have been put deep in the bottom of a ship that had a mysterious accident and sunk, leaving all the crew to secape safely, but "sadly" none of the prisoners could be saved. Now BHO is going to have these guys lead his civilian security forces.

Next time there won't be any Gitmo.  Once any readily offered intel is given, all detainees will be swiftly, and humanely, shot!  I hope that we get what we need the first time around because there won't be a second chance.
