On shots at close range, especially well under 100 yards (like 50 yards that you mentioned), most conventional bullets will "blow-up," especially when they come in contact with bones that carry more mass than just the rib cage. As a result, I like to use bonded bullets because they hold-up under the severe velocity and impact and thus do not have the jacket and core separate. Also, the lighter the bullet, the more important it is to be worried about bullet blow-up.
At 100 and over, and shooting at whitetails at .270 Winchester velocities, the need for bonded bullets becomes less important. But still, why are worried about the few extra bucks? It's money well worth spent. Consider it insurance.
Between the two, I definately advocate the use of the Sciroccos.
