I have the A G bird&trout in Vg10,and the woodswalker in aus8 steel, both are good little knives. The VG 10 steel holds up very good just like the spyderco knives I use with the same steel. The D2 would most likely hold an edge longer, but is more prone to staining, and rust if its not taken good care of.I've never had a problem with D2 rusting as I usually clean my knives as soon as I finish using them.I like smaller knives myself . usually a knife with no longer than a 3 1/2 inch blade will cut anything I need to cut.If I need a big knife for chopping I'll borrow one my wife's old hickory's.
The woodswalker is a small knife, but perfect for kitchen like chores(ie) cutting up food for the table, and small cuttin chores.I ended up using mine for a paring knife. The aus8 doesn't stay sharp a long time, but is east to touch up,and is resistant to rust, and staining.I sometimes carry it in the little kydex neck sheath which holds it very securely.
My everday carry knife is a mini-manix from spyderco a great knife with excellent S30V steel.
