1022 Ruger ammo selection
« on: February 01, 2009, 04:25:49 PM »
This question may have been asked before I'm sure but here goes. Is the 1022 capable of a steady diet of the hyper velocity 22 long rifle rather than standard velocity rounds? Thanks for any responses. Charlie

Yes, as long as your guns chamber isn't on the short/tight side for such extended case rounds such as the stingers.....the others will work fine in most guns.....SOME people like to replace the factory bolt buffer with a aftermarket version of nylon type material -some have a metal cross pin thru the soft material....this aftermarket buffer soaks up the impact of the bolt in recoil and doesn't transfer as much to the buffer holes in the action.......thats the theory anyway?.....I have a bought new,1971 deluxe sporter that is still going strong with years of high velocity and promo type ammo thru it.....very few stinger type shells have been shot and I just got it a new spring set and buffer recently to refresh it ....hth..good luck and good shooting!!
