A bit OT, but an invitation.
« on: February 17, 2009, 03:45:11 AM »
I already pmd a couple of people, and then thought this was a better idea.  Patty and I will be camping at various State campgrounds (which are very nice) here on Michigan's Upper Peninsula throughout this coming spring, summer and early fall.  We'd like to invite any of you who can to join us.  Just let me know dates and I'll reserve the campgrounds.  michigandnr.com/parksandtrails/parkmap.aspx will show you what's up here.  We have some favorites.  If anyone is interested, pm me.  We can shoot at my place, fish, eat and relax at the campgrounds.

Bill and Tim, you two old birds are welcome too.  Oh, not to forget Chipdon, Busta, Stimpy,....or any of you!

I appreciate the invite and would love to see the country up there and meet some of our GBO members who live in MI but I don't think my finances are likely to be up to the trip. I'm still trying to figure out if I'll be able to afford the OK PD trip this year. Faye has been wanting to visit OK since she was a girl. Her dad was stationed out there when in the Army and promised to take the family out to see the area he had spent time in but never got around to the trip.

This could be our last chance for me to get her out there for that long wanted visit so I'm gonna try to swing that this year but just am not sure if finances will allow. If we lose anymore advertising revenue for sure it won't be do able unless we can add some new ones. My income has taken a huge hit this year already.

Bill, I think that's been the case for a lot of us.  That's a big reason Patty and I are staying close to home this year.  I'd love to take a swing up through Canada, down through New England and visit my family down along the east coast......but that's not happening.  And, aside from the eyes, it's another reason I'm not making the PD shoot.

I will try to kick in to the server fund again soon.

Fort Sill??  I would think??

Thanks for the invite Pete, but I'm in the same boat, my wife just retired 2yrs earlier than originally planned due to a volunteer early retirement option the USPS offered, so not only do we have less income, my wife has some trips of her own planned that aren't exactly my cup of tea. :-\

Been there, done that, got the shirt, got the hat.  In fact, she's got some more up her sleeve.  There's nothing like hanging around with a bunch of old ladies spinning and weaving......talk about excitement!!!!  A shotless day in freezing rain in a duck blind is more fun, or a troutless day with ice freezing in the guides and going over your waders.  I guess if they put up with our Handiholicism, and living with guns and junk all over we just have to reciprocate :'(  Oh well, it can't get too much worse......hopefully.
