William F Green
« on: January 30, 2009, 04:29:11 PM »

Looking at the Blakely plans that Double D posted and having previously used the Cairo plans that he posted.  I have to say I think the plans by William F Green are the best I have seen. Are they published together in a book or available somewhere to be purchased. I know that Mr. Green has passed away but wonder if he published a book with them when he was with us.

Mr. Greens plans were published in some long discontinued Hobby Machinist Magazines as well as the early version of Home Shop Machinist.  I have quite a few of his drawings and would like to find more.

Mr. Greens drawings are old school hand drawn and not CAD/CAM product.  The are quite simple to use and make a good looking gun in the end.

Several years ago one of the fellows on this board made contact with Mr. Greens family and inquired about acquiring the rigths to Mr Greens plans. Before we heard a response, Jim  died.   about 4 years ago the folks at VillagePress the publishers HSM forwarded a letter I wrote asking about acquiring the rights to Mr. Greens plans.  The letter was never responded to.

To night while doing some research I came across a website selling cannon plans  The inventory look similar to William Greens.  Scale Model Civil War Cannons

Nice site! Fair amount of inventory, fair prices, Photos are good with detail, might have to get one to play with! BoomLover

The Widow Blakely on this page looks to have been built using the W.F. Green plans.

Quite a number of his "catalog" photo's seem to come from Wm Greens Catalog.  I am thinking about ordering from him just see what he has.
