How does the Savage MK II shoot
« on: January 28, 2009, 03:59:21 AM »
I'm thinking about a new 22  and really like the looks of the MK II thumbhole. I would really like to hear from any one that has one or shot one. I already have both 17's and a 10/22.   Just wonting something different, and like thumbholes but prefer accuracy over looks, and budget is under 350.
BIGGER and faster is always better !

I have a Mark ll in the FV model, it shoots pretty well, have only tried a few loads from it though, subsonic Remington , Federal bulk pack, Winchester wildcat, Remington thunderbolt.........no clear winners from these inexpensive rounds.

I think it was GunsandAmmo that said in there review that is was the most accurate rimfire rifle they have ever reviewed, bar none. They chose it as there riufle of the year last year if i remember right.
Buy it and go to rimfirecentral.com/forums and go to the Savage section for any hints and tricks. I bought a FV in HM2. I have never shot a more accurate rimfire. All I've tinkered with is i cut off one ciol from the trigger spring. one hint though. Buy the most powerful scope you can. I have a 6-18 and will upgrade to a 8-32 this spring. those little holes are hard to see when they are that tight together.
