Savage/Stevens bolt handles: welded, soldered, milled?
« on: February 03, 2009, 04:46:20 AM »
Dear Guys,

Does anybody know how the bolt handles of the current Savage/Stevens rifles are attached to the bolt?  I.e., whether they are welded, soldered or milled? (I know that this is a recurrent topic in comparing a mauser bolt handle to a Remington 700 bolt handle.)

  Thanks,

Mannyrock

None of the above - they are bolted on and can be removed, replaced, whatever, in about two shakes of a pony's tail.

But if you wanted too, you could saw them, or chisel them, or continuous beating with a ball-peen hammer would probably do it as well......but it wouldn't be pretty.
