« on: April 13, 2009, 08:52:26 PM »

The wood for my Borchardt came from Treebone. I also know of 2 - 3 Rolling Block shooters who purchased wood from him. George @ Treebone knows what he is doing. He more than likely has a stock that will fit right-off-the-bat or require minimum fitting.

I have a complete set of wood from a 7mm available.  Not sure if it will fit your bbl. depending on your caliber.

Email me at lkydvl@hotmail.com

thanks ray. that's about what i figgered. do you or any one know if he does long restoration type fore-ends? as i said earlier, they're not collectors but would still like to have long fore-arms. in fact, i have three rollers & none are what they were s'posed to be. first s'posed to be 45/70 ordered from buffalo brothers. was actually swede 12.7 & that was rechambered to 50/? 450gr. boolit ahead of case doesn't engage rifling. 2 & 3 s'posed to be 45/70 & 43'gyptian. 45 actually reformado & 43 appears to be 44-40 or similar. can't find anything in c.o.t.w. that comes any closer than that. hafta git sum cerrosafe to know fer sure. on toppa that, reformado bead blasted & black parkerized. looks better than it sounds. other one bead or sand blasted-even the wood if you can imagine such a thing. as i said, i've seen that other bubba's work. enuff drivel for now. thanks to all, bubba.    andre just saw your post. my bbls are 35" if close & price was right would prob' be interested. will also try your e-mail. thanks, bubba

Hi Bubba!

I've restocked several Remington Rolling Block rifles and may have the buttstock and foreend you need.

E-mail me some pictures and dimensions of the fore end channel and I will see what I can do for you.  In particular, need fore end length from front of receiver, and width of barrel channel.  Round, octagon, or tapered barrels?

American blcak walnut okay with you?  That is what most of my stock blanks are.

Oh, yeah:

I have a 12.7mm Swedish RRB, as well as .43 Spanish-made, and various original Remington Rolling Block actions, so getting a butt stock to fit is no problem, but I do need your barrel dimensions to come close to your fore end dimensions.

Let us know what your ".44-40" Egyptian RRB is.  Sounds intriguing!

hello john, thanks for the input. if you compare my 'puter skills to reading, i'm still scratchin' on the cave wall with a rock so, i know nothing about putting pix up. may be able to sweet-talk my daughter into helping at some point soon. any way-if you go to ken womack's rolling block parts site & click on the #1 action pix it looks like he took photos of my guns. have one like each of those. reformado is rem. stamped w/2 line patent dates. unknown is round top pic on the right. bbls are 35" about 1&1/8 diam. at receiver w/the small flats that seem to be common as all three of mine have them. the fore-arm that i have is 29" long and has the metal tip. if it had not been sand-blasted? it would be usable. yes, it's as bad as it sounds. would really like to hear back from lkydvl as he has wood i could make work on one of them. but i'm also interested in your stuff as i would like to get both more presentable. yes, i ramble a lot so if you haven't got tired of this drivel and went to sleep let me know if info helps and what kinda money we lookin' at. also, if you don't make the long fore-arms still interested. need something better than what i got.

hey john, ol' rambler again. forgot-tangs are about 3&5/16ths by 3/4"top and bottom. round top has the edges like the womack picture on the right. no dates i can find or anything else for that matter. looks uneven in tang area after sand-blast so don't know if erased or just never there. swede i guess was sporterized about 100yrs ago and looks pretty good as is. only complaint with it is whoever rechambered it went too deep and is probably why 2" groups at 50yds is about all i can get. dropped a 450gr bullet in the chamber and my caliper went in over 2" so don't know what they were thinking. thanks agagin, bubba.              p.s.-lkydvl-still interested in your wood.

The 12.7 Swede I have has a long throat as well.  I suspect they were made that way from the Swedish arsenal to handle the black powder fouling of the period.  I shoot .50-70 black powder loads in mine using fireformed .348 Winchester brass, and it works just fine.

I've not been able to locate this Ken Womack that you refer to.  Can you provide a site link or www address?

No problem on the forearm length.  Like I said, I've stocked several remington rolling blocks, and bunches of stock and forearm blanks left over.  Leave your email address and I will shoot off a cost estimate for the stocks/forearms you want.

hey john,  thanks for gettin' back to me. yeh, i shoot 50-70 in my swede too. use starline brass and 450gr bullet. real fun gun. any way- the e-mail address for kenn womack is-www.rollingblockparts.com then you click on the #1 box and it shows the two types of actions. as i said it looks like he took pictures of my actions except his haven't been sand or bead blasted. whatever went through this guy's mind. the one i have like the one on the left is rem. marked reformado. the one like on the right can't find anything except some #s down left of frame at front but looks exzactly like that one. thanks again. my e-mail address is-charleynester@yahoo.com appreciate any help. also would still like to hear from lkydvl about his 7mm wood if he still has it. feel free to e-mail. bubba.  p.s. even tho i would like long fore-arm i could live with sporter type. give prices & description of whatever you have. thanks again.
