Which .45/410 Barrel.
« on: August 28, 2003, 12:38:51 PM »
One of my firearm dealers has a couple of .45/410 barrels. Both stainless one 12" and one 16". For those of you with experience with these barrels which would you pick. Contender is the 12" Encore is the 16".

Thank You,
Lucky Joe

well, first do you own an Encore or a Contender?  Mine is a Contender and it is a 14".  Funnest barrel I own..buy the shorter one for pistol mode nd the longer one for carbine use.  Has tro be at least 16 1/4" for carbine.

Better check a little further first.   I believe the minimum barrel length for rifles is the 16" no problem, but for shotguns it is 18", so I don't think I'd put a shoulder stock on that 16 1/4" with the choke out.   Just off the top of my head, but I don't remember the last time my memory served me well either.

BTW, my current Contender .410 is a VR 21".   I had a 10" 45/410 a very long time ago - was worthless for the 45 Colt and marginal at best for the 410.   Damned mourning doves just laughed at me (but some buzztails and cottontails that got real close didn't).

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

The 45/410 barrels are rifled, that makes it a rifle under the law.
