Hey there .22 shooters,

In answer to the question, I guess my short answer is, ones which shoots very small groups!

My present shooter is a Clark Custom Ruger 77/22 - I do really like the RUGER!

This CRuger shoots great!!!!!!!!!!

It is topped with a Leupold 3X9 EFR scope.

Even after owning the rifle a number of years, I still have not completed all the testing I'd like.

However, It shoots a number of different loadings into 1/2" for ten shots at 50yds, and as you can guess, 5 shot groups are just a tiny hole.

In truth, I am surprised I do not see more about the Clark Custom rifles, as they are fine shooters!

Keep em coming@

Marlin 7000.

Great rifle for squirrel hunting. Very accurate. Very reliable. Not made anymore, but you can find them used.

my all time favorite is a winchester model 67 single shot.
It is as accurate as any make or model I have ever shot.
I bought mine at a pawn shop many years ago and excellent
service has been rendered from it. I know there are some excellent
shooting rifles out there, but I can't see spending several hundred dollars
for something that will do no better than what I got used for about $90.00
and change. Check out the used gun racks first. you may be pleasantly surprised.

Like allot of the guys that posted, I too have a bunch of them...
My reworked Marlin Squirrel is an excellent shooter as are my reworked 10-22's and my customized H&R handi.  Notice the commonality.. reworked, rebuilt, customized. That should read, new barrels, triggers, trigger work stocks etc. About any 22 can be MADE more accurate.

My factory stock CZ 452 SPECIAL is the BEST 22 shooter I have. I have added a Bushnell Trophy 6X18 AO scope to it and it easily shoots dimes at 50-75 yards. I haven't done anything to it until the addition of the scope. Then I did clean the trigger a bit. It only got better... ;D

If your not familiar with the 452 special its limited availability. The first one was made maybe 7-8 years ago. It was for a foreign govt (Not actually labeled specail) as a training rifle and they backed out. CZ offered it here in the states and we ate it up!! They are easily identifiable as they had LONG barrels, excellent open sites and red hard wood stocks. The second run was on purpose and labeled SPECAIL. It had the same long 28+" barrel and the same sites but a standard CZ hard wood stock.

That is my pick.. the CZ 452.

I would have to look in the safe but off the top of my head I know I have at least 10 22 rimfires.  Three of them are 77/22s one suppressed, one heavy barrel, and one regular one.  I love the Rugers and for obvious reasons the suppressed one gets the most use.

My first choice would be an anschutz target rifle old or new, my second choice would be a t/c contender carbine, with the old style frame.   If you want to go cheap the old remington 580 or 581 is a good bet.   I am not a big fan of auto loaders, so I don't like any of them!  they can be a lot of fun, but you sure waste the ammo fast, and one tends not to get any quality practice  when one does not have to load another round in the chamber, and most are not usually as accurate as the rifles already mentioned.

  CWlongshot;
My CZ 452 Special is not labeled "special" but has the hardwood schnabel stock. It was labeled (on the box) as a special when I bought it new about 4 years ago. It has a 24.5" barrel and I think that is too long! ;D
Really like the rifle, and have a post here asking about the best HP hunting round you have found..please contribute..thanks

I'll pull it out of the safe and snap some pics for you...  IIRC Rem Cyclone was tops in my Marlin and the CCI Subsonics in the CZ... I'll have to double check to be sure... Maybe I posted it a couple posts back too.

I have/like the Rugger m7722 . I have the SS lam stock with long bbl. and like it because it is very accurate . did i say it was very accurate ? I had picked up a Remington target gun and it would not group at all really . I returned to the store and was told there was a recall . long story short they traded me for the Ruger and i have been pleased . Did i mention it was accurate ?
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

CWLongShot,
That's a nice looking rifle but I really like the cartridge collection in the background. I swear I see a 338 Spectre even.

Throw a vote in for a Marlin 512X. Its grown on me over the years, and I find myself reaching past the Rugers for it.
