I was thinking of cutting down the 24 inch barrel on my 700 35 whelen to 18 or 20 inches. What is everyone's thoughts on this? Good or bad idea? It shoots really well with the 24 but I want something a little shorter for the big woods.

I wouldn't do that to mine...
But it sounds like a perfect excus... uh, ... reason to get a 358 Win!

I wouldn't do that to mine, reason to get a 350 rem. mag. (model 7)
