« on: January 30, 2009, 01:13:19 PM »
heres a pic of the first coyote Ive taken this year. got it with my hillbilly Mauser custom in 6.5x55 during a ice storm we had a few days ago.the weather was so nasty all day i spent a hr or two installing a bold trigger with side safety that i stole off some guy on eBay for about half what they wanted for a new one.got  in my stand and hadn't even had a chance to do any calling when this guy and 2 others trotted out at about 125 yrds.

Where are the two other ones?  Larry

This is a valid question...I know that the other two probably hit high gear right away but if you can get on the distress call and work it hard, it can stop the running yotes (for a shot) while at other times they might even come right back to their downed comrad. If neither of these work for you, You can follow in the direction that the survivors escaped to for 100-200yds and get on that distress again. It can work for you.

The trick is to shoot the last one in line first, he hears his buddy get snarfed before he hears the shot and will run away from him and toward you for a couple of seconds.  Larry

they were in kind of a narrow open spot so as soon as i shot the other ones were immediately obscured from view.i did get on the call hard but didn't work. that's OK they will be there for next time.
