which 22 bolt action
« on: February 12, 2009, 09:18:16 PM »
Hi ,I am wanting to pick up a 22 bolt action for squirrel hunting and am curious as to which of the 2 choices of Marlin or Savage is on average More accurate? I cant remember the model numbers but basically I am talking about a choice between 2 Wally World rifles,Both synthetic stock, both sporter weight barrels. Thanks,Craig

Between those two, mostly because of the accutrigger, and the fact that I owned a Marlin bolt action at one time, I would go with the Savage. I don't know about the price difference, or why you particuliarly want a bolt, but for hunting, and being a Walmart gun, I would have to go with a Ruger 10/22 FWIW. I never take a second shot at the same squirrel, but when the need arises for multiple squirrels you can't beat the follow up shots with a semi-auto vs working a bolt. Nothing tells the woods where you are more then working a bolt!
