Milsurp ammo question, .30 AP
« on: February 11, 2009, 09:22:46 PM »
Hi, I'm curious what the heaviest armor-piercing ( or "best" AP ) surplus rounds are available in .30 Cal.
I want to experiment with pulling the bullets, and loading them in a .300 RUM.
If foreign, like 7.62X54R, any hints on identifying them by bullet tip color, package codes, etc.
Thanks!
Mark

The 30-06 AP have a black tip to them.  I haven't pulled any so don't know the weight.
