nagant fireing pin spring oal
« on: February 05, 2009, 02:55:32 PM »
anybody know the overall length for a nagant fireing pin spring?i picked up a crusty ole bubba sporterized nagant the other day and am trying to line it out. it will fire but only after 2 strikes on the same shell. the fireing pin spring was shimmed with another short spring inside the bolt.the long spring looks new and fine but im not sure its even the correct spring for this rifle.id hate to order a new spring and find out its the same one i already have and actually have other problems. any help would be appreciated guys.

is your ammo good stuff or old surplus? if new and your having problems measure the firing pin protrusion the tool is usually included if the rifle came with all the goodies if your didn't maybe you have a bud that has one if all else fails i think they sell for all of 3 bucks.

ammo is good stuff. you could tell by listening that the fireing pin didnt have much strength when it struck.how much is the fireing pin supposed to protrude?i could easily measure that if i knew the specs.

pin protrusion was fine. swapped the spring out of my nephews rifle into mine and it shot like a champ.the cheep ancient scope and bubba mount were actually sighted in at 50 yrds so once i get a new spring i should be good to go.thanks for the replies guys!

got the new spring yesterday and installed it. this amazingly ugly butchered up rifle i got 50 buks in shoots like a champ. stepped out back and banged the gong at 125 yards.definitely impressed with the rifle and the ancient cheep scope mounted with 6 different kinds of screws.mite have to git me another nagant or two
