buckshot trajectories
« on: February 15, 2009, 08:14:49 AM »
Any one have a rough idea on the trajectories of #1 and #4 buckshot at 70 yards with  2 3/4 or 3" 12 gauge?
Guesses will be OK and will save me a lot of ammo

Thanks

More importantly is how they will pattern at that range...I've killed a bunch of deer with 00 and #1s, but all were within 50 yards...I take a 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper, turn it on it's side and tape to a opened piece of news paper at 40 yards...If I can place 4-6 pellets into that
8 1/2 x 11, I know I can kill deer at that range...

Buckshot looses it's effectiveness at longer ranges...Now, If you are shooting coyotes, throw up a target, aim about 3-4 inches high and have at it...

You caught me-- coyotes are my new targets with a Carlson Dead Coyote choke.
Thanks
When the weather warms up I'm out to do some pattern testing with #4 & #1 buckshot
