Savage accu-trigger

Got to play with one today at the store, works pretty slick, kind of like a Glock trigger. Savage needed to do something. Hope it comes out on some of there hunting weight rifles.

I'm not so sure that I like the accutrigger.  It is a two-stage trigger as opposed to a single stage - meaning that you when you pull the trigger, you actually pull one trigger and then when that trigger reaches the second trigger, then you pull the second trigger.

Single stage trigger is like what most triggers are - like from Remington, Winchester, Tikka, Sako, etc. etc. etc.  I don't think that I could ever get used to a 2-stage trigger.

It's not really a 2 stage trigger.  The first blade encountered is actually an enabler.  It moves the link to operate the sear into position..  That's what makes these trigger interesting.  Normally when a trigger is tuned to very low pull weights they are dangerous because the mass of the trigger blade can be enough to trip the sear.  With an accutrigger the trigger blade isn't connected to the sear until the finger depresses the front blade.  This could allow light triggers to be safer in the field.  I still have some reservations but it is a safe trigger...  Two stage usually means a trigger that provides a great sear contact and increased leverage to remove the bulk of that contact before the leverage is reduced for the final sear motion.  It isn't like the Glock safe action either as they remove a safety block...  The Accutrigger could more readily be called a 2 part trigger, part 1, enable the sear, part 2, allow the trigger to move the sear..  I'd like to see something like this as an after market item for other rifles..
