There is no closed season and no limit on squirrels in my county and there are always HOGS!
Any law that makes self-defense illegal or impractical is an illegitimate law, and should not be obeyed, because such a law ultimately subjects people to the criminal element.

I have been looking over the new beanfields but the groundhog damage is very light to non-existant due to the Coyotes and the farming practice of working the cover right to the very edges.

I had been killing steel plates with large pistol bullets but had to take a short break to do some trapping when I found a small piece of soffit missing from the house along with some tell-tale droppings.

By day these critters act almost tame when handling the cage but at night they will growl & snarl like a bear!.

I love going out with the old 22LR and shooting some gophers. don't need a fancy gun and a brick of 22 shells and you can have fun all day. That or coyotes or really anything else I can find haha.

Predators and varmints with no bag or possession limits year-round.
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

:)Ah, Summertime. What do I hunt??? Well, I usually catch some trout for breakfast and some pan fish if I get to a lake or pond that has 'em. But hunting, if I go east to visit my relatives or my girl friends kids, I carry half a dozen wood chuck rifles. Start with a .22 Hornet, through maybe a .25-06. If I stay at home in the west, usually a week or ten days is spent bear hunting, also in May and June I shoot quite a few gophers with my .22 rifles and pistols. Also at this time early mornings are spent looking for coyotes killing antelope or deer fawns. >:( Here I usually use either a heavy .2506 or heavy .300. June though Sept. is prairie dog time. I usually don't hunt them til the pups are out. Here my .222, 223, various .22-250's get some play. Maybe the 25-06 on windy days or if I have ammo I want shot up. Some ranches require all badgers be shot, so they are on the list also. Foxes, it varies with the ranch.  Rockchucks are shot if they are in a spot doing some damage. Also I shoot a few, just to keep them wary. I often use my Marlin .25-35 for this shooting. 8)This morning I was out for coyotes and missed a couple long shots, so took a shot at 2 p.dogs sitting side by side at about 250 yards. A 150 grain Balistic Tip from my .300 made and impressive hit on both ::) ;DBut I guess this isn't summer so it doesn't count. :(
