I have owned several callers, even a couple different fox pro's & I really like the PM-4.. The transmitter & reciever fit nicely inside a old laser 800 padded range finder case. I pack the case, the speaker (horn) a quiver critter decoy & stake, a padded seat + a pair of bino's in my day pack so it is compact enough to suite me..
The unit is of course remote controlled & IMO has plenty of remote range..
The fox pro's remote will work further away, but I dont see the point in having the call further than 100 yrds myself.. The unit is also plenty loud & clear at slightly above half volume..
Now the draw backs.! The things I don't like about the unit is - (1) it wont whisper.!
The volume only goes so low & is still very audiable.. The only answer to this is to hit the stop button & totally eliminate the sound.. (#2 draw back is that its a cheap caller.! Yes it works very well & is plenty loud, but by being cheap, it is the first choice of many callers.! The problem with that is, you are stuck playing the same sounds as other callers in the area.. (#3 drawback - the unit doesn't have a mute.! which really dont bother me, but I have heard others complain about it. (#4 - not enough Coyote vocalization sounds.. Coywolf barks & howls has put fur on the stretcher, but is getting old to many of the local dogs.! It would be nice to have some female howls & perhaps some challenge howls to add to the mix.. Or better yet, a programable card to add your own sounds.! IMO, that would be the ultimate addition to this caller.
