i learned something today
« on: February 22, 2009, 04:28:51 PM »

i am sad to admit it    but    i have learned something about history and my own small town today that as a history buff    I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN !   just north of town we have a small state park  Col. Denning State Park   i have know this    the new part is that it is named after the late Col. Denning - master cannon maker of the Revalutionary war.  he is buried in a small cemetary just 2 blocks from my office with a small unimposing memorial stone topped with a carved stone cannon    not a single REAL cannon in town.

i will have to find out more and visit the cannon foundry       p.s.   please forgive the spelling
