Hammer spur extention catching on release lever
« on: February 25, 2009, 02:36:43 AM »
Busta, need your help, buddy.  A gunsmith friend of mine reworked a Topper frame that I have my huntsman on.  Now it cocks very hard and not positively with the hammer just about flat with the frame, and when fired the extention hits the release and stops there.  How to fix??

Thanks,

Pete

I'd say let the gunsmith fix it. Get a new hammer, or remove extension, OR put the extension on the left side of the hammer spur. Don't sound like you have too many options here. Sorry.

Can you post a pic?

Pete, Busta is right, it sounds to me like he didn't install the barrel release correctly and possibly changed the hammer spring, you might want to download and print Perklo's trigger hone info and give it to him so he can fix it right. Did you have him install a double coil hammer spring by chance?

He put a new trigger guard on it and sent the cracked one back along with the hammer spring.  I don't know what he replaced the spring with.

Right or left, the hammer extention catches the release.

I guess it is rather unimportant just now.  I can shoot the rifle without the extension, and I'm upgrading all my frames to SB2s.  I only have 2 SB1s remaining.
