Dom, I like all the stuff you make. I also collect old thundermugs as you may know. Some day you might try making a large thundermug with a wider base, more like the old ones, even if the base had to be welded or threaded on for economy of stock. If I were going to make one I'd probably turn the base separately, then join it to the main body with a couple of short countersunk bolts coming up through the base so any visible joint nice and even with no weld. One old one I have that weighs nearly 50 lbs. still only has as I recall about a 2" bore, someone must have found that's the largest bore you need. Heck, with yours, you could launch the Coors beer cans, filled with concrete, dang near into orbit. Hopefully if you do that you'll use a fairly long fuse and get well away from the launcher, like we do for our heavy-duty anvil launcher. We send our 110-lb. anvil up to about 500 feet.
