Bought 25" Mudgears for grizzly 450 (pics)

25x8x12 front and 25x10x12 for the rear. So far for the type of riding that I do they have been great. Canyons, rocks, snow, trails, dirt, gravel and very little mud, if I have to cross it. They are a 6 ply tire so they do ride a little rougher than the stock 2 ply but not that much. They have 3/4 lugs and a rim saver feature to help keep those rocks from dinging up your rims. I spent a large amount of time looking at different atv tires and so far I am happy with what I bought. This size keeps the mud inside the fenders and off me and passenger and also keeps the agility of the machine. They do throw a very tiny amount of rock on the gravel road but it is minor. Other riders used to be right on my rear going down the road and trails and I have been rear ended by idiots in the group because they follow to close but not any more. So I guess its more of a good thing, it makes them stay back farther. :)

I will keep you updated on how the tires perform and handle. Again if you are looking for a great all around tire I think these are a good choice for the terrain listed and the price of $250 shipped to my door. Cannot beat that with a stick.

They do good in the snow, clean out very easy.

They will gum up in heavy mud but all you have to do is hit the throttle and they will clean out and pull through.
This pic was taken using 2 wheel drive only, just for illustration.

So far so good on rocks and steep ground. One thing about the stiffer side walls is the tires do not try to roll on a side hill as bad as they did with the 2 plys.

Very warm day in slushy snow.

The wife says she does not think they ride any rougher than the stock tires. On the trail they have been great and I feel much more confident on where I can go.

Do you normally tool around in 2wd mode?
If not , you don't find the front to aggressive for 4wd mode?

This is actually an older tread design that has been mimicked by most manufacturers and sold under different names over the years.  It is an excellent and well proven design for every application mentioned that allows for a smooth ride to boot.  I would be interested to know how well they hold up for tread wear.  Some manufacturers use a very soft compound that works extremely well but doesn't last long and others use a hard compound that lasts for ever but doesn't perform nearly as well.  Keep us posted in the future.  BTW I never run over 4# of air in these 6plys and usually a bit less.  It allows for better grip in some spots.

DCR 2WD is a lot more fun sometimes as long as your ride has enough power.  These tires are far from being too aggressive for a 4x4 as pictured.  I use a similar tire myself but in a 27" model on a modified 650.

My current quad is all time 4x4 so I don't really have an option  and have to ride 4wd all time , I find a too aggressive of a front tire to be a burden in my case as the handling goes

The directional tread on the tires help in steering imo, You point and they go. They steer easier in 4wd than my stock tires did. I also think keeping the 8" up front aids in this department.I have 4 psi in them now, I think I will leave the fronts at 4psi and try 3.5psi in the rears.

Update, these tires have been great. No problems what so ever. They have taken me everywhere I want to go and I would not hesitate to buy mudgears again in the future. I really put them to the test going down the camas praire railroad tracks. Now you talk about being rough.
